Clients describe me as calm and approachable, with a knack for solving problems and smoothing out rocky situations. I measure my success by each client’s satisfaction, and have a list of references available upon request. (Editor’s note: Ian is humble and would never say this about himself, but we work with him and we
know this to be true!)

Grand Boulevard Beauty

This couple were close to retirement and seeking to update their untouched 1950’s house so that it would be comfortable as they grew older. I completed the interior design from start to finish. The result is a fresh and beautiful addition with a kitchen that serves as the heart of the house, with connections to the deck, backyard and basement.

Three Households, One Vancouver City Lot

I designed my own family home to surround my daughter with the most important people in her life. To do this, I created three separate units: two side by side 1,000 square foot units and a 460 square foot laneway house which share a backyard and patio. My familiarity with the local zoning helped me come realize the lot’s potential.

West Vancouver Renovation

When their kids left for university, this professional couple sought to customize their space to suit their lifestyle. An extensive interior renovation created an enlarged office and living room, new wine cellar, and deck addition. We created an open concept space by removing interior walls and installing folding doors that open onto the patio, as well as a floating stair as a visual anchor for the main floor.

Vancouver Special Upgrade

An unfinished basement in this original, 1960s Vancouver Special provided the perfect amount of space for this family to sprawl as their kids mature.  Instead of lifting the house, we brought the ground down to maintain character, draw in light, and connect the family to the backyard garden. The finished basement is now home to a sunken living room and two kids’ bedrooms.

Denman Island Retirement Residence

Once a family retreat, this couple headed for retirement sought to make their Denman Island cabin more suitable for year-round living. We renovated the existing cabin and created a substantial addition, connected as wings to expand and contract to support their visiting kids and grandkids. A vaulted common area opens onto a deck that terraces down to the beach. Design features such as a metal roof to shed greenery and a charred wood exterior were included for low maintenance.
